The farm, known as The Ohio Greenhouse Company, will operate year-round, growing Sunset-brand products for retailers in states that include Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, New York, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky and West Virginia, according to a news release.

“This new location perfectly complements our vision and plan for providing fresh, local produce to our retailers and consumers,” Paul Mastronardi, president and CEO of Kingsville, Ontario-based Mastronardi Produce, said in the release. “Growing our local footprint and delivering on our long-standing ‘fresh from the farm’ commitment to our customers is something we are incredibly passionate about.”

Mastronardi Produce grows on more than 4,000 productive acres of growing capacity, according to the release. The new Ohio farm gives the company the ability to triple the acreage there.
