The California Walnut Board, Folsom, is looking for grower and handlers to serve as members and alternates.

The board’s biennial election is for two-year terms staring in September, according to a news release. The open positions are for two members and alternates from each of the two districts in California, which is divided along the southern boundaries of San Mateo, Alameda, San Joaquin, Calaveras and Alpine counties. The board also needs a member and alternate at-large to represent the entire state.

To nominate a member, at least 10 growers who marketed an aggregate of at least 500 tons of walnuts in the 2017-18 year must petition for a grower’s name to be placed on a ballot, according to the release.

There are separate ballots for member and alternate positions.

Petition forms mailed to growers in late February are due by April 1. In mid-April, the California Walnut Board will mail ballots to growers.
