Demand for fresh citrus is strong for Toronto, Canada-based Fresh Taste Produce, says Tara Glazer, marketing director.

Fresh Taste is a fresh produce importer, packer, processor and distributor. The company offers both conventional and organic fruits and vegetables, Glazer said.

“The organic consumer, as well as the organic offering, is evolving, and we are keeping up with a diverse set of varieties,” she said.

Inflation at retail is a concern for many produce marketers, but Glazer said citrus has performed well.

“Citrus demand is evergreen, and at the height of our season, consumers are reaching for our specialty varieties as they always have,” she said. “In fact, our specialties are the fastest-growing items in our portfolio. The most premium citrus at its peak quality is still a delightful, affordable healthy treat that consumers are not turning away from.”

Organic cara caras are a citrus item that has captured consumer interest, she said.

“That sunset pink center and sweet taste is beloved by our consumers, and as a marketer it’s a pleasure to feature in displays and in social media,” Glazer said. “The recipes and possibilities are endless.”
