Jazz apples are being featured in a new campaign, Bring On the Snack, to motivate consumers to snack healthfully.
Chef Joel Gamoran, a “Today” show regular and cookbook writer, is kicking off the campaign for the apple variety, a T&G Global brand. He will lead a culinary competition, the Jazz Snackdown, challenging chefs to create snacks featuring the apples. Each week from Aug. 13-Sept. 7, the Snackdown will be featured on Instagram, according to a news release.
Consumers are encouraged to vote on the snacks, and each participant will be entered to win a prize package. Bring on the Snack also features digital ads, YouTube videos and retail social posts. A page on the Jazz apple website features recipes.
“Snacking is here to stay, and it’s a habit Jazz apples want to be part of by providing a healthy option,” Cecilia Flores Paez, T&G’s head of marketing for North America, said in the release. “Known for their distinct taste, Jazz apples are lightly sweet and tangy with a crisp bite.”
Envy apples
T&G Global recently touted the success of Envy apples, which have posted double-digit sales gains during the Washington season.
“The phenomenal growth Envy achieved this past season has catapulted the brand to stardom, consolidating our strong position in the category and building foundations from which to continue to grow,” Flores Paez said in a news release.
Envy volumes increased 20%, along with retail support, distribution, shelf space and promotional activity. According to research firm IRI, Envy apples grew 23% in dollar sales, 22% in volume and 6% in distribution growth for the 52-week period ending June 14.
“Envy has proven to be one of those apples you can rely on. That sweet crunchiness makes it perfect,” Anthony Chanka, category manager for Giant Food, said in the release.
Envy apples are marketed by CMI Orchards, Rainier Fruit Co., and The Oppenheimer Group.
