Peru sees value, volume bump for asparagus in 2020

By volume, U.S. imports of Peruvian asparagus in 2020 totaled 93,652 metric tons, up 2.6% compared with 91,266 metric tons in 2019 and up 7% from 2010.

By volume, U.S. imports of Peruvian asparagus in 2020 totaled 93,652 metric tons, up 2.6% compared with 91,266 metric tons in 2019 and up 7% from 2010.

The value of U.S. imports of Peruvian asparagus totaled $261.4 million in 2020, up 3.5% from $252.6 million in 2019 and up 33% from $196 million in 2010.

Peru accounted for about 40% of total U.S. imports of asparagus in 2020, up from 36% in 2019 but down from 47% in 2010.
The per metric ton value of Peruvian asparagus was $2,791 in 2020, up less than 1% from $2,767 in 2019 and up 24% from 2010.
