The South Texas Onion Committee is conducting a referendum through the U.S. Department of Agriculture on whether to continue the marketing order.

Voting on the referendum, which is mandated every six years to allow growers to decide its future, will be from Sept. 21 to Oct. 13, according to a USDA news release.

The South Texas Onion marketing order continues if it’s supported by two-thirds or more growers that vote, or producers representing two-thirds or more of the volume vote in favor of it.

Eligible growers who don’t receive a ballot by Sept. 14 should contact Abigail Campos at Abigail.Campos@usda.gov or 863-324-2145. Ballot requests can be faxed to 863-291-8614
