Watermelon board seeks nominations, deadline is March 8

The National Watermelon Promotion Board is seeking nominations for growers and handlers to service on the board.

The National Watermelon Promotion Board is seeking nominations for growers and handlers to service on the board.

The industry has scheduled a nominating convention at 9:30 a.m. March 10 in French Lick, Ind., to fill the two producer seats and two handler seats in District 4, which covers Connecticut, Delaware, Illinios, Indiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Wisconsin and Washington, D.C.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture appoints the members, whose two-year terms will start on Jan. 1.
