Pure Flavor, the Canadian greenhouse company behind the first-ever commercial greenhouse-grown melon, returned from the International Fresh Product Association’s Global Produce and Floral Show with a new innovation award under its belt.

The company won the Best Product Promo award for its Amōra mini melons, a win the company said further cements it as an innovation and marketing leader in the produce industry.

“We are extremely honored to have been awarded the Best Product Promo award for our new Amōra mini melons,” Tiffany Sabelli, senior director of sales for Pure Flavor, said in a news release. “We feel that we’ve developed a phenomenal product offering — from variety to branding to packaging — and we’re so glad the industry recognizes its potential for success.”

Pure Flavor unveiled Amōra mini melons at this year’s Global Produce and Floral Show, and the trade launch was supported by attention-grabbing displays and graphics, product sampling at the booth, digital promotion assets and a showcase that highlighted the key benefits of the melons, including its exceptional sweet and juicy flavor and convenient mini size. The greenhouse-grown nature of the melons means they are able to offer consistent flavor, quality and supply all year, the company said.

The IFPA award was selected by a panel of judges consisting of industry experts and retailers who chose the winners based on innovation, appeal, messaging and attendee engagement, the release said.

“We want to congratulate Pure Flavor for winning Best Produce Promo at the Global Produce and Floral Show this year,” said IFPA’s Director of Trade Shows Kyle McMillan. “The judges were impressed by their eye-catching shelf display and clever messaging, specifically highlighting the innovative single-serve option as a possible extension of the melon category.”

Pure Flavor said it ships its first sold-out supply of Amōra mini melons this month and is taking orders now for shipments beginning early next year.
