CMI Orchards’ new retail apple campaign focuses on supporting veterans, members of the military, and their families.

The American Dream promotion, introduced at the Produce Marketing Association’s Fresh Summit in October, features colorful flag imagery for summer holiday displays.

“We had a dream to celebrate and inspire Americans across the nation,” George Harter, vice president of marketing for CMI Orchards, said in a news release. “We created this apple label to show our solidarity and support of military families, veterans, and patriots of our great nation.”

Memorial Day and July Fourth, along with Veteran’s Day in the fall, provide opportunities for retailers to participate in the “feel-good program, give back to their communities and stir up excitement in-store,” Harter said in the release.

The American Dream program allots a percentage for each box to go to each retailers’ choice of a program that supports veteran and military groups. CMI can pack any conventional apple it sells into the special cartons.

“CMI’s eye-catching American Dream apple box can be used to create an impressive billboard display, with a positive, patriotic message that resonates with consumers,” Harter said in the release.
