Foodservice, grocery sales edge higher in September

The U.S. Census Bureau has reported that advance adjusted retail sales estimates for U.S. grocery stores in September totaled $68.57 billion, up 0.7% from August and up 7.4% from a year ago.

The U.S. Census Bureau has reported that advance adjusted retail sales estimates for grocery stores in September totaled $68.57 billion, up 0.7% from August and up 7.4% from a year ago.

For food service and drinking places, September sales were estimated at $72.38 billion, up 0.2% from August but up 29% from September 2020.
