Calling it a “totally reimagined grocery store” and “the first of its kind in Missouri,” Hy-Vee, Inc.’s newly opened store in Springfield, Mo., marks the grocer’s third new concept store in its eight-state territory.

Located at 2150 E. Sunshine St., the 93,402-square-foot store offers a feast of fresh food options, including a produce department with more than 2,000 fresh items — among them, 177 organic fruits and vegetables, as well as an expanded floral area.

Also on tap at the Springfield store is a food hall for fast-casual dining, which includes the West Des Moines, Iowa-based Hy-Vee’s new breakfast menu; a pub with full bar and outdoor patio; and other mealtime offerings, including Mia Italian, Hy-Chi Asian food, Nori Sushi, Market Grille Express, Long Island Deli and Wahlburgers.

The focus on fresh continues in the Springfield Hy-Vee’s full-service bakery, featuring artisan and specialty breads, patisserie, cakes and a cake decorator station; its full-service delicatessen; a full-service meat counter including a chef’s station, a dry-aged steaks case, Chophouse-brand and other packaged meats; a full-service seafood counter with sustainable seafood options; an expanded Hy-Vee HealthMarket department offering a larger selection of vitamins and sports nutrition options; and a pharmacy with a drive-up window.

But food won’t be the only thing available for shoppers to focus on. Additional in-store offerings include DSW shoes and accessories, Joe Fresh clothing, a Pair Eyewear kiosk, a beauty department, and an expanded Hy-Vee Candy Shoppe department with premium, novelty and nostalgic selections. This location also has a Hy-Vee Wine and Spirits department featuring a walk-in beer cooler, walk-in humidor and walk-in wine room.

The new Springfield store includes all-digital shelf labels that display product information and pricing, and has more than 100 TVs that feature Hy-Vee products, promotions and services, according to a news release. Digital kiosks are also available for customers to order cakes and fresh-prepared foods, as well as access offerings via Hy-Vee Financial Services.

The store will also feature new mobile payment technology with Hy-Vee Scan & Go, as well as self-checkout options for a faster, more convenient shopping experience, the news release said.

For shoppers looking to grab and go, more produce can be found at Hy-Vee’s co-located convenience store.

Situated on the west side of the Springfield store parking lot, the Hy-Vee Fast and Fresh convenience store, which opened on Nov. 16, 2021, is stocked with fresh, on-the-go meal offerings, a Market Grille Express and select grocery staples, including fresh produce, fresh bakery items and Hy-Vee Aisles Online grocery delivery and pickup service, the news release said. Fast and Fresh is open 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week.

Hy-Vee is an employee-owned corporation operating more than 285 retail stores across eight Midwestern states with sales of more than $12 billion annually, reports the company.
