New to the Melissa’s Produce lineup, Palmer mangoes bring a taste of the tropics to the fall and holiday season. Airfreighted from Brazil and available through December, this colorful variety complements Melissa’s year-round mango selection with something new for shoppers to discover, according to a news release.
Oval-shaped Palmer mangoes turn from purple to bright red as they ripen. Inside, their bright orange flesh is juicy and sweet, with notes of citrus and peach. Delicious freshly sliced, they also bring natural sweetness to salads, salsas, smoothies and desserts.
The addition builds on growing interest in the mango category. According to the National Mango Board, U.S. retail sales of whole mangoes reached $583 million in 2025, up from $513 million the previous year. For retailers, Palmer offers another way to keep shoppers engaged with the category beyond the summer months.
“Mango sago and mango sticky rice are getting attention on social media, giving shoppers more ways to enjoy fresh mangoes,” says Robert Schueller, director of public relations for Melissa’s. “We featured mango sago at the Global Produce and Floral Show, and Palmer mangoes are a delicious choice for making it at home. They’re also great for holiday entertaining, from fresh salsas and cheese boards to colorful fruit platters, cocktails and mocktails.”
Each fruit features a Melissa’s band label with a UPC, helping it stand out on display and scan easily at checkout. With distinctive color, sweet flavor and plenty of culinary possibilities, Palmer mangoes give shoppers a new variety to enjoy through December.
