The Packer and Alibaba.com, one of the largest online commerce sites, are offering a free web seminar on steps produce companies can take to sell their products online.

The Packer and Alibaba.com, one of the largest online commerce sites, are offering a free web seminar on steps produce companies can take to sell their products online.

The seminar is at 3 p.m. Central on Dec. 5. Registration is available online, at https://bit.ly/33POKMn.

During the seminar, Jonah Mandel, head of the customer success team for Alibaba.com North America will explain B2B e-commerce opportunities for small

and large producers.
The web seminar will cover:

  • How to create an online storefront to reach buyers around the globe;
  • Ways to successfully use Alibaba.com or other platforms; and
  • Information on Alibaba.com’s pricing structure.

Shannon Shuman, publisher and vice president of The Packer, will join Mandel on the web seminar.

Web seminar participants will receive a $250 discount on Alibaba.com membership services.

Alibaba.com lists numerous U.S. produce items, including organic produce.

U.S. produce companies have used Alibaba platform Tmall to sell fruit for several years. Driscoll’s has had a store on the platform, and Northwest cherry shippers have sold fruit on Tmall with great success. On Single’s Day, Nov. 11, the Alibaba Group reported record sales $38.4 billion (U.S.). Chilean cherry shippers kicked off their exports on that day, continuing a partnership with Tmall that began in 2012.
