A preview of what’s to come from GOPEX 2025

Darren Seifer, industry adviser for consumer goods and foodservice insights for Circana, provides a sneak peek of his GOPEX 2025 presentation, focusing on today’s organic produce shopper and what drives their loyalty.

Darren Seifer, industry adviser for consumer goods and foodservice insights for Circana, will take the GOPEX 2025 stage on Tuesday, Jan. 14, to offer some insights into the latest trends that will impact attendees’ businesses.

Seifer joined this episode of the “Tip of the Iceberg” podcast to offer a sneak preview of his presentation. Seifer said Circana, which was formed from the merger of Information Resources Inc. and The NPD Group, can help analyze what consumers are buying and eating in the food and beverage space and the motivation behind those trends.

Seifer said he will dive into who the consumer is and who isn’t engaging with organics and what type of opportunities the industry has to engage and attract that non-organic consumer to the category.

“The topic is really about what is the state of organics and what is this secret that’s going to drive loyalty,” he said. “We’ll talk about different types of fruits and vegetables that [drive] organic, and we’ll look at some other categories outside of produce to understand what is that complete picture of consumers when they’re going for organics and what really motivates them.”

Seifer said as consumers look more and more to the cost of goods, it’s critical that retailers show consumers the value proposition that organic fruits and vegetables offer.

“We’ve seen lots of different ways over the last year that consumers are trying to keep their food and beverage spending in check, but that doesn’t mean that they aren’t looking for premium products,” he said. “There actually has been a story around premium positions, but it’s about getting them to those extra dollars, and you’ve got to show them value.”

Seifer said attendees can expect to see more than just trends and data in his GOPEX session.

“We have a lot of great analysts and advisers who look at all those different assets and say what the story is so again,” he said. “What I want to bring to this and for this presentation is not just that this bar is higher than that bar, but why it’s happening.”
