Prices for red or black plums around the nation ranged from 97 cents to $2.99 per pound on July 7, according to U.S. Marketing Services. Each week the firm looks at prices for a particular commodity at four retailers in eight major cities across the U.S.

On July 7, prices averaged $2.41 per pound, with the fruit on ad at five of the 27 stores surveyed, according to the firm.
