The Star Group is taking its greenhouse living lettuce line one step farther, cutting, washing and offering the lettuce in five new blends under the Inspired Leaves brand.

The ready-to-eat salad mixes, available in 142-gram (five-ounce) clamshells, in mid-June are:

  • Butter Blend
  • Crispies & Crunchies
  • Greenhouse Greens
  • Canadian Reds

They join Multileaf Blend, which The Star Group released in retail test markets in March. After positive results, the company decided to expand the line. The Star Group’s fresh-cut company Sliced FC has processing plants in Calgary, Alberta, and Winnipeg, Manitoba, and has invested in another in Calgary to expand capacity to process the Inspired Leaves line, according to the release.

The facility will have specialized equipment to process the tender leaves.

The company has plans to further extend its salad line this fall with Inspired Salads, “offering consumers a full spectrum of options of how they can enjoy these delicious greens,” according to the release.
