Walmart‘s new Bettergoods private label was launched with claims that the retailer will deliver chef-inspired food at a great value.

Falling within the three pillars of “culinary experiences,” “plant-based” and “made without,” Bettergoods items range from under $2 to under $15, according to a news release. No produce items have been identified so far for the private label.

The new private label for Walmart now features 300 items spanning Walmart’s aisles, including frozen, dairy, snacks, beverages, pasta, soups, coffee, chocolate and more, the release said.

Bettergoods, sold exclusively by the Bentonville, Ark.-based retailer, marks Walmart’s largest private brand food launch in 20 years, the company said.

“Today’s customers expect more from the private brands they purchase — they want affordable, quality products to elevate their overall food experience. The launch of Bettergoods delivers on that customer need in a meaningful way,” Scott Morris, senior vice president, private brands, food and consumables for Walmart, said in the release. “Bettergoods is more than just a new private brand. It’s a commitment to our customers that they can enjoy unique culinary flavors at the incredible value Walmart delivers.”

Bettergoods items fall within three distinct category pillars, the retailer said:

  • Culinary experiences — Selections include specialty salts and seasonings, a line of jar soups and pasta.
  • Plant-based —Nondairy frozen desserts and plant-based cheese alternatives are among these selections.
  • “Made Without” items — These include gluten-free items and food made without artificial flavors, colorings or added sugars.

Customers can shop select Bettergoods products now in stores and on walmart.com for curbside pickup and same-day delivery, with the full line continuing to roll out over the coming months, the release said.
