Avocados From Mexico has renewed its partnership with Brighter Bites, extending the program that brings avocados and nutrition programs to families in cities served by Brighter Bites.

The avocado promotion group is sponsoring deliveries of the fruit and nutrition information in February, to schools in the Brighter Bites program: Houston, Dallas, Austin, Texas., New York City, metropolitan Washington, D.C., and southwest Florida.

“We understand the challenges many families face to get proper nutrition, which is why our AFM employees are grateful for the chance to actively participate in making a difference, especially in our local community,” Alvaro Luque, president and CEO of Avocados From Mexico, Irving, Texas.

Brighter Bites provides fresh fruits and vegetables to underserved communities, teaches them how to use the produce, and tracks changes to their diets.

“Together, we’re able to deliver this delicious, nutrient-dense superfood into the hands of the thousands of families we serve in the U.S.,” Rich Dachman, Brighter Bites CEO, said in the release, referring to avocados.

The avocado and nutrition information donations support more than 18,000 families.

“Education is a key pillar for us so we’re excited about the development of our co-branded nutrition education materials for families, offering tips on ripening and healthy recipes the whole family can enjoy along with the donated avocados,” Stephanie Bazan, vice president of trade and promotion for Avocados From Mexico, said in the release.
