Ecuador banana supplier Reybanpac was recognized at the Banana Awards, organized by the Association of Banana Exporters of Ecuador.

Reybanpac was recognized for the company’s work in the categories of market diversification and gender equality, according to a news release.

Reybanpac’s flagship banana brand, Favorita, is distributed on five continents. In 2023, Reybanpac exported 27.5 million banana boxes to over 30 destinations. Europe accounts for 34% of its exports, the release said.

“This is just a reflection of our constant search for excellence, efficiency, and our solid commitment to the sustainable development goals of the Global Compact,” Vicente Wong, CEO of Reybanpac, said in the release.

The Banana Awards aim to recognize the performance and sustainability of the banana export industry and its value chain, the release said.

The recognition shows the comprehensive work of Reybanpac to empower women and promote their participation in the agribusiness sector, the release said. Through the various programs of the Wong Foundation, girls, adolescents and women are provided with guidance and training in technical and human skills for their professional development.

At the same time, the company says it has training programs aimed specifically at its female agricultural workers to provide them with growth opportunities and encourage greater participation of women in specialized labor.

According to its sustainable development plan, the organization also works towards the sustainable development goals of generation of decent work and economic growth; responsible production; climate action; and preservation of biodiversity.

Reybanpac says its commercial tactics have focused on market diversification, growth in demanding markets, and a premium and sustainable offer with added value for its customer.

During the ceremony, Reybanpac also received an honorary recognition as a founding member in appreciation for its contribution to the constitution of this association that became a benchmark for the banana sector inside and outside the country, the release said.
