The Southeast Produce Council yet again served as title sponsor of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta’s Strong4Life Superhero Sprint on June 3 in Atlanta, with its members also pitching in to support participants in the fundraiser.

Reinforcing the SEPC Cares initiative, member volunteers joined the CHOA team at Piedmont Park to distribute fresh produce to event attendees. The annual sprint benefits CHOA’s Strong4Life program, which supports Georgia families raising healthy, resilient kids.

SEPC member companies donated and transported over 12,000 pounds of fruits and vegetables to share with race participants and their families, according to a news release.

“The Southeast Produce Council is extremely proud of our association with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. They have cared for so many children from all 159 counties in Georgia and from around the whole country with state-of-the-art medical treatments and facilities,” SEPC President and CEO David Sherrod said in the release. “We are excited that we are contributors to their mission and to the new facility opening next year.”

Prior to the race, SEPC members had the opportunity to visit Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta’s Mission Center to learn more about the new North Druid Hills Campus and experience a visualization of the future state-of-the-art Arthur M. Blank Hospital.

While at the mission center, SEPC members heard about the five pillars of CHOA’s Never Settle Campaign. They toured the simulation space where multiple mock rooms at the hospital have been created, including an operating room, patient room, ICU patient room and trauma room.

Through its Never Settle Campaign, CHOA is working at every level to expand reach, improve the patient family experience, support research efforts and transform pediatric healthcare, according to the release.
