MegaMex Foods, which markets the Wholly Guacamole brand, has donated $100,000 in cash and products to charities to help during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Recipients include World Central Kitchen, which specializes in feeding people during disasters as “first food responders.” It has activated hundreds of restaurants and kitchens to feed vulnerable communities, according to a MegaMex news release.

In Orange County, Calif., where MegaMex is based, the company is purchasing 300 meals a week from restaurants and donating them to Waste Not OC Coalition to distribute. MegaMex Foods also worked with I am A Hero LA to deliver 2,200 meals to health care workers in the Los Angeles area.

“MegaMex Foods is committed to the health and safety of our employees as well as helping others during this unprecedented time,” Ryan Michaelis, president and CEO, said in the release. “We are proud to support incredible organizations like these while helping local restaurants to ease the burden within our communities and make a meaningful difference for those who are facing food insecurity.”

In the Dallas-Fort Worth area, where Wholly Guacamole’s distribution center and headquarters are, the company is working with Chef Tim Love, who has been providing about 10,000 meals to people in need, according to the release.
