Atlanta-based Cox Farms says as part of its commitment to Hunger Action Month, Feeding America’s campaign to raise awareness about food insecurity and hunger in September, the greenhouse grower has reached a major milestone in its efforts to end food insecurity. The company says it has donated more than 2 million pounds of fresh greenhouse-grown produce to families across the U.S. and Canada.

Cox Farms says reaching this milestone puts it on target to reach its goal of donating 3 million pounds of produce by the end of the year.

“Cox Farms’ mission is to nourish communities, and Hunger Action Month is a powerful reminder of why that work matters,” Steve Bradley, president of Cox Farms, says. “Reaching 2 million pounds of donated produce is a proud moment, but the real impact is in what that food represents — healthier meals, dignity and hope for families who need it most. Together, we can end hunger.”

Cox Farms says it supplies food banks with its tomatoes, cucumbers, strawberries, peppers and leafy greens, which supports Feeding America’s network of more than 200 food banks and 60,000 partner organizations aiming to close the nutrition gap for families.

Cox Farms says this effort also supports its 34by34 initiative, which aims to empower 34 million people to live more prosperous lives by 2034.

“We’re excited to have partners like Cox Farms who not only contribute fresh food but also bring national attention to the issue of hunger,” says Dru Montri, vice president of Agri Food Engagement at Feeding America. “Together, we’re demonstrating the power of neighbor-centered solutions to fight food insecurity.”
