In celebration of Earth Day, Green Our Planet, a nationwide nonprofit school garden and hydroponics program, will host the largest student-run farmers market in the country on April 22 on The Lawn at Downtown Summerlin, Nev.

Now in its 12th year, the Giant Student Farmers Market will welcome ‘Farmpreneurs’ from 52 CCSD schools, showcasing student-grown produce and handmade crafts from over 520 students, with all profits to be reinvested into their school garden programs, according to a news release.

“This event is a powerful demonstration of what students can achieve when given the right tools and opportunities,” said Ciara Byrne, CEO of Green Our Planet. “Beyond learning how to grow food, students become ‘Farmpreneurs,’ gaining essential financial literacy, business and customer service skills. They create business plans, track profits and losses and experience firsthand what it takes to run a successful business, all while promoting sustainability and environmental stewardship.”

Committed to empowering students from grades Pre-K through 12 with hands-on, STEM-based education, the bi-annual student-run farmers market is a culmination of the learning happening in Green Our Planet’s programs. Through the organization’s school garden and hydroponics initiatives, educators gain access to an online platform with standards-aligned lessons in STEM, nutrition, financial literacy and conservation. They’re also trained to use outdoor gardens and hydroponic systems to deliver experiential lessons that equip students with practical, lifelong skills, the release said.

The presenting sponsor of the 2025 Spring Farmers Market is Credit One Bank who are proud sponsors of the Farmpreneur and school garden programs across the Clark County School District.

In addition to Credit One Bank, Green Our Planet will host the event with support from Las Vegas Sands Care, Bank of Nevada, Howard Hughes, United Way of Southern Nevada, Lazy Dog and Clark County School District.

The farmers market will also welcome appearances from the Las Vegas Aces mascot, Bucket$ and the Las Vegas Aviators mascot, Spruce.
