Equifruit says it has an eye-opening message for the Organic Produce Summit 2025: “The cost of upgrading to Fairtrade bananas for an entire year is less than that of a single sock.”

The company invites OPS attendees to stop by its booth, No. 808, to learn about the affordability of the “most expensive banana.” Equifruit says visitors “can expect an immersive experience that will rock their socks off.”

“We often get pushback about raising banana prices at retail. But by the end of the year, upgrading to Equifruit bananas costs less than a single sock,” Kim Chackal, co-owner and vice president of sales and marketing at Equifruit, said in a news release.

Chackal also noted that switching adds only about $5 to a grocery bill. “This might seem like an absurd comparison to make, but we want to shock retailers into realizing how affordable the switch to Equifruit bananas is.”

The company says Fairtrade bananas support fair wages for banana farmers, better working conditions and environmentally friendly farming practices.
