Koppert, a sustainable solutions provider of crop protection and natural pollination, has released its first sustainability report, which measures, assesses and evaluates the environmental impact of its business practice, as well as details environmental, social and governance initiatives.

Key highlights from the report include the company’s collaborative efforts — which span 2,635 employees in 34 countries — and how they led to a reduction of over 480,000 kilograms of agrochemicals from the environment thanks to the use of natural alternatives, according to a news release.

Koppert said it also decentralized its production and packaging operations to reduce transportation-related emissions. In Michigan, the company reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 80% on a designated transportation route, and it reduced the number of pallets shipped from the Netherlands to the U.S. by 30%, the release said.

Koppert said its global “Future Forward” sustainability strategy is founded on three pillars: environmental sustainability, social responsibility and governance. The company assigned specialized teams to each of the 13 priority material challenges and is dedicated to developing targets and key performance indicators for the next reporting year, and it is proactively commencing its sustainability reporting to ensure compliance by 2026, according to the release.

“Our inaugural sustainability report will help us further align our operations with our mission by measuring our current sustainability impact, allowing us to strengthen and refine our business practices,” said Peter Maes, director of transformation at Koppert. “We are committed to prioritizing the well-being of both the planet and society, and we will continue to do so, reflecting our values and ambitions as we contribute to building a sustainable future.”
