Western Growers has launched a collaboration with Qfresh Lab, an independent consulting and testing lab specializing in sustainable packaging design and technology for the fresh produce industry. The goal of the collaboration is to advance sustainable packaging in the fresh produce industry, according to a news release.

This collaboration is a part of the working group established by Western Growers and the Canadian Produce Marketing Association.

Western Growers said Qfresh Lab will support the project through technical documentation, stakeholder alignment and implementation strategies.

“This initiative is crucial because without it, others may compromise the quality and safety of fresh fruit and vegetables,” Jeffrey Brandenburg, founder of Qfresh Lab, said in the release.
