HPL-Apollo is celebrating its 10th anniversary.

When the business started in July 2009, it focused on handling fruits and vegetables and flowers to and from Los Angeles. The company has grown with branches in San Francisco and Miami and expanded to include dairy, seafood and other perishables, pharmaceuticals and other time-sensitive and temperature-controlled products, according to a news release.

“Flowers or asparagus coming from Colombia, Ecuador or Peru into LAX (Los Angeles International Airport) by air connecting on a flight to Australia or Japan never leave the airport and remain in the same cooler for breakdown, forced-air cooling and build-up services,” according to the company’s website.

HPL-Apollo also picks up ocean containers from the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, takes them to LAX, de-containerizes the product and prepares it for shipping by air. The company provides air freight services to Asia, Europe, the Middle East and other areas, according to the release.

HPL-Apollo is a joint venture between Apollo Freight, a subsidiary of Mercury Air Group, and Hellmann Worldwide Logistics. It handles perishable shipments for Hellmann USA, working within the Hellmann network around the world with door-to-door solutions and value-added services, according to the release.
