The Port of Oakland is celebrating a construction project on a new logistics facility that’s designed to reduce truck travel times and cost.

The CenterPoint Properties project is a 467,000-square-foot facility at the port’s Seaport Logistics Complex at the former Oakland Army Base. Officials from the port, City of Oakland and other entities are scheduled to speak at the groundbreaking ceremony Oct. 11.

The CenterPoint Landing development is a $60-million investment in the area, according to a news release, and will enhance logistics by reducing truck travel time, distance and cost due to the nearness of freeways, marine terminals and railyards.
