The U.S. Department of Agriculture has banned LoneStar Produce Express LLC from doing business in the produce industry for violating the Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act.

LoneStar Produce Express, San Antonio, didn’t pay $283,844 to nine produce sellers from December 2017 to October 2019, according to a news release. The company cannot operate in the industry until Oct. 13, 2022, and then only after receiving approval for a PACA license from the USDA.

The company’s principals, Leonidez Fernandez III and Eric Fernandez, may not be employed by or affiliated with a PACA licensee until Oct. 12, 2021, and only after posting a USDA-approved surety bond.
