Dolco Packaging promoting foam pear trays
Customers using Dolco Packaging's foam pear trays can expect to experience fewer fruit scuffs and bruising during transport, according to a news release.
The thermoformed polystyrene foam trays, from the Wayne, Pa. Dolco, were also developed to lessen pack times, according to the release.
The trays include grips molded into individual cells.
The mini fluting holds the fruit and lessens the fruit's ability to rotate in the cell during transport, according to the release.
Deep cells envelope more of the fruit and reduced exposure also helps to minimize damage, according to the release.
The tray's smooth inner and outer surface also allows the fruit to be comfortably cradled, which also helps improve yield, according to the release.
The trays were developed to allow handling of the fruit directly from the shipping case to retail display without requiring removal and restacking, according to the release.
Dolco Packaging manufactures polystyrene foam and polyethylene terephthalate - or PET - containers for the agricultural, food and foodservice markets.
