Ready Pac launches line of salads for Domino's

Domino's Pizza is rolling out a line of salads created for the company by Ready Pac Foods.

The salads arrive at Domino's ready to serve, with compartments separating the ingredients, much like Ready Pac's signature Bistro Bowls. Nutrition and ingredient information and Ready Pac branding can be found on the bottom of the bowls.

The pre-packaged varieties include Classic Garden, Chicken Caesar and Chicken Apple Pecan and cost $6.99. The price of the salads drops to $5.99 if the salads are purchased with other items including medium two-topping pizzas, sandwiches, pastas and brownies.

Joe Jordan, chief marketing officer for Domino's, said in a news release that the company has been seeking other menu options to complement its core offering of pizza.

"With premium ingredients like spring mix, roasted white-meat chicken, and brioche garlic croutons, the salads we created with Ready Pac Foods tested extremely well in key markets, making the national rollout an easy decision for us," Jordan said in the release.

Ready Pac, Irwindale, Calif., has supplied Domino's, Ann Arbor, Mich., with fresh-cut produce and bagged salads since 2008.

"As we continue our significant growth as a company, we are always looking at ways to reach consumers to give them the freedom to eat healthier," Tony Sarsam, Ready Pac CEO, said in the release. "Working together with long-term partners like Domino's, we are able to realize our vision to offer fresh, healthy salads to consumers every day."

Ready Pac is a leader in the single-serve salad category, with more than 60% branded market share, according to the release.
