The Hass Avocado Board, Mission Viejo, Calif., is seeking nominations for board members.

Information and nomination forms are online.

The 12-member board will appoint five new members in December, along with five alternates, according to a news release. Nominations for the three growers and two importers, and alternates for those positions, are due March 20.

They will serve three-year terms on the avocado board.

Ballots will be mailed to industry members by April 27, and they are due back by May 25, according to the news release.

“HAB’S success truly depends on the leadership of our board members,” Hass Avocado Board Chairman Jorge Hernandez said in the release. “We highly encourage anyone who has a passion for the industry’s growth and an interest in moving the industry forward to consider this as an opportunity to make a difference.”

The Hass Avocado Board will submit two nominees for each position, according to the release, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture will make the final selections, according to the news release.

The new members will officially join the board at its Dec. 2 meeting.
