Guatemala group releases retail planner for beans, peas

Guatemala Produce Trade Association has published a category management plan for fresh beans and peas.

The 2016-17 Fresh Peas and Beans Category Management Plan Outline is designed to be an annual report from the Miami association, according to a news release.

The report includes market summaries, trends, nutritional facts and benefits, information on consumer positioning of fresh peas and beans and forecasts through August 2017.

"The outline also equips retailers and industry with the type of information needed to sell more produce from Guatemala," association co-chairman Robert Colescott, owner, president and CEO of Southern Specialties Inc., Pompano Beach, Fla., said in the release. "Importers have developed value-added programs that provide U.S. consumers with options to promote convenience, savings and ease of preparation alternatives in quality-assured packaging."

The association's goal is to show the benefits of trade with Guatemala by promoting the country's brand through industry media, supermarkets and consumers.

The document is available from any association member or by emailng Priscilla Lleras-Bush, the association's coordinator, at prestige@1scom.net.
