The U.S. Department of Agriculture has imposed sanctions on Sunrise International LLC, barring the company from the industry for Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act violations.

Sunrise, Miami, didn’t pay $329,508 to four sellers for produce “purchased, received and accepted in interstate and foreign commerce from September 2014 to January 2017,” according to a news release from the USDA.

Sunrise cannot operate in the industry until Sept. 23, 2022, and only after it applies for and is issued a PACA license from the USDA.

Robert A. Arthur, the company’s principal, may not be employed by, or affiliated with, a PACA licensee until Sept. 23, 2021, and only then with the posting of a USDA-approved surety bond, according to the release.
