Chicago-based Hazel Technologies Inc. will hold its first-ever virtual Mango Quality Summit.

The one-hour event is set for Nov. 25 and will feature keynote speakers from across the mango industry, according to a news release, and will occur just ahead of the start of the 2020-21 Southern Hemisphere mango season.
The release said speakers will include:

  • Jorge Osuna-García, a mango researcher who has conducted studies for groups including the National Mango Board as well as the government of Mexico;
  • Renzo Muro, CEO of Fundo Los Paltos, a mango grower and exporter in Peru; and
  • Mario Cervantes, senior business development manager at Hazel Technologies, Inc.

Topics covered by the keynote speeches will include research on fresh mango post-harvest quality, fungus prevention methods, and preserving top fruit quality during transit.

“This year has been an unprecedented year for the mango industry and tropical fruit industry in general, across Mexico, Peru, Ecuador, and the rest of the Americas,” Osuna-García said in the release. “I am excited to share our latest mango quality research developments with the tropical fruit industry in order to ensure a successful future season.” Mario Cervantes, senior business development manager for Hazel Technologies, said in the release. “Hazel is excited to participate in and sponsor this event.”

The Mango Quality Summit is a free event and registration is available online at www.bit.ly/mangoqualitysummit2020 until Nov. 25.
