Pacific Organic Produce inks deal

San Francisco-based Pacific Organic Produce has locked in an exclusive deal with one of the most sophisticated packers and growers in Sonora, Mexico, said Delilah Romo, commodity manager for Sonoran citrus.

Grower-packer Citrus Game — dba Flavor King — will grow mostly organic valencia oranges through May and organic grapefruit until March, she said.

The company was finishing its lemon season in November and will offer mandarins in December through January.

Pacific Organic Produce had success marketing Flavor King/Citrus Game fruit last season, and signed the agreement to sell all of its organic citrus, Romo said.
