TOMRA Food’s fresh food business area now operating from field research center
More of TOMRA's Fresh Food experts have been brought together at the same location, according to the company.
TOMRA Fresh Food, one of TOMRA Food's two business areas, is now operating from the company's Field Research Center in Waikato, New Zealand, according to a news release.
The company designs and manufactures sensor-based sorting machines and integrated postharvest solutions for the food industry.
The move brings together business activities previously located in both Waikato and Auckland, the release said.
Now, the company said, all stages of the development cycle, from fruit science to designing and manufacturing food-grading solutions, are in close proximity.
This initiative follows the recent creation by TOMRA Food of two discrete business areas, TOMRA Processed Food and TOMRA Fresh Food. The move, the release said, also integrates the expertise of Compac and BBC Technologies, two New Zealand-based businesses acquired by TOMRA in 2018, which are now part of the TOMRA Food brand.
"We are determined to continue pushing the limits of agri-tech innovation and to extend our offering further,” Geoff Furniss, CEO of TOMRA Fresh Food at TOMRA Food, said in the release. “By operating out of the Field Research Center, we can fully align our development team to deliver highly valued products to the food industry, and make better use of the skill sets and expertise of our entire team to get closer to our customers through aligned service and sales offerings."
