The Fresno Food Expo ran for almost a decade until a few years ago. Now, the expo is coming back with a new name and broader focus.

The Fresno Chamber of Commerce is relaunching MADE Central California. The food industry trade show highlights Central California food and beverage companies. The goal is to connect with new customers, network with industry suppliers and engage with local consumers, according to a news release. The expo will take place Aug. 31- Sept. 1.

“The trade show recognizes and celebrates the central San Joaquin Valley’s thriving food industry and everyone involved along the food chain,” Susan McLaughlin, marketing coordinator at Baloian Farms, said. “The show provides us with the opportunity to connect with food industry service providers, buyers and our local community, right here in Fresno, the heart of the Central Valley.”

The show was originally called the Fresno Food Expo, which ended its run in 2019. The Fresno community has waited for its return.

“Since the Food Expo ended in 2019, there has been an outpouring of community support to bring this event back,” Amy Fuentes, chief operating officer at the Fresno Chamber of Commerce, said in the release. Fuentes was the previous founder and manager of the Fresno Food Expo. “Truth be told, it’s the people and the companies that make up our region’s thriving food industry.”

Like the original food expo, Made Central California will provide a platform for central California’s food and beverage companies to connect with retail and foodservice buyers. There will also be educational sessions and roundtable discussions.

The trade show will also have industry speed dating that will facilitate new connections between food and beverage exhibitors and local industry suppliers, and a new award platform inspired by the show, "Shark Tank."

"As local growers and shippers, it makes sense to be involved and we are excited to be part of the show,” McLaughlin said. “It brings awareness and well-deserved recognition to Central California as one of the premier agricultural growing regions in the world.”

Baloian Farms was involved with the original Fresno Food Expo. At the fourth annual show, Baloian Farms won the People’s Choice Award for its sauteed squash seasoning kits.

“It was a big thrill to be voted first place by all the food lovers at the show,” McLaughlin added.
