Divemex boosts organic pepper offerings

Divemex, Guadalajara, Mexico, is extending the season of its organic pepper offerings with the first harvest last week of product from a new greenhouse in Ahualulco.

The greenhouse’s location in central Mexico adds to existing production in Culiacan and Etzatlan, with production in Ahualulco starting about five weeks earlier, according to a news release.

The greenhouse will be used to grow Fair Trade Certified red, green, yellow and orange peppers, according to the release, as well as sweet bell peppers and mini peppers.

Aaron Quon, executive category director of greenhouse and vegetables for Oppy, Divemex’s North American marketing partner, said in the release that more than 40% of the company’s products are organically certified.

“Divemex continues to lead the industry in many ways, including producing top quality Fair Trade organics,” Quon said in the release.

Organics is a key focus of the company’s Growing Beyond Expectations brand.

Divemex also grows conventional sweet bell peppers and long English cucumbers, according to the release.
