StePac packaging focuses on retail sector

StePac’s new line of produce packaging, showcased at the Produce Marketing Association’s Fresh Summit in New Orleans, is designed to extend shelf life of herbs and whole fruits and vegetables, and fresh-cut salads.

The line of Xgo retail packaging includes stand-up pouch bags, lidding films and flow packs with films. All of the items have anti-fog properties. The products build on the Israel-based company’s Xtend modified atmosphere packaging technology.

“We’re building on the latest developments in advanced Xtend modified atmosphere/modified humidity technology and packaging design to help both retailers and international food brands to address growing consumer demands for premium quality packaged produce,” Gary Ward, technical development manager at Johnson Matthey PLC, the UK-based parent company of StePac, said in the release.

According to the release, case studies have shown the effectiveness of Xgo packaging in extending shelf like, cutting down on food waste and enhancing consumers’ experiences at retail.
