At least the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Market News Service is still operating, but the continuing shutdown of the federal government has got to end.

At least the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Market News Service is still operating, but the continuing shutdown of the federal government has got to end.

Why? People can’t work without pay forever, and basic services are being stressed, as this NYT coverage points out.

President Trump needs to declare victory (go ahead and campaign on the need for a wall again - it may well work) and move on with the business of running the country. America shouldn’t trust his judgment if he can’t wrap this up within days.

In any case, here are some charts below showing price trends for fresh produce and for truck rates. In general, truck rates seem to be running below year-ago levels, at least for the Oxnard district.
