What is the relative importance of each state to the fresh produce industry? The United Fresh Produce Association has a valuable web page that describes the relative contribution of each state to the industry.

Also, check out this map of the U.S. that I put together from U.S. Department of Agriculture’s 2017 produce shipments by state. California commands the top spot easily, though some may underestimate the importance of Washington state tonnage.

Speaking of United Fresh, check out the group’s summary of its recent member survey about government relations priorities.
United members said workforce/immigration issues is the top priority, followed by food safety policy.
