How is the retail grocery business? Glad you asked.

There is no shortage of reports that update the trade about retail grocery performance, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture has another option for interested parties.

Called Weekly Retail Food Sales, the report is based on proprietary scanner data, including fruit and vegetable specific sales numbers, from a nationally representative sample of retail food establishments collected by Information Resources Inc.

Sales data are reported weekly, beginning with the week ending October 6, 2019.

I composed some charts depicting trends since early 2020.
