There’s a lot to celebrate on social media right now

We’re all about the holidays here at The Packer and PMG. As foodies in the biz, we get excited about the (arguably) biggest food holiday of the year in late November, followed by other food-centric gatherings.

We’re all about the holidays here at The Packer and PMG. As foodies in the biz, we get excited about the (arguably) biggest food holiday of the year in late November, followed by other food-centric gatherings.

So, it’s no coincidence that holiday and celebratory posts caught our attention this time. See what we liked and follow the companies or people if you like it too.

Ocean Spray Inc. employed two great social media strategies in this post. For one, the company uses a well-known meme that’s been repurposed all over by individuals and companies. It’s a universally funny image that’s malleable to the “Great Divide” over what kind of cranberry sauce is best at the Thanksgiving table. We, of course, are on Team Fresh Cranberries. The second strategy is asking a question in your post to activate engagement. The post message is short and simple and effective: Within one day of the post, it nabbed more than 680 likes and 57 comments. Asking a question is a great way to get consumers more involved and invested in your brand.

“Check this out: Organic fair trade bananas. So exciting!” said Kim Chackal in the 11-second video. You can see, hear and feel the Equifruit Inc. director of sales and marketing’s joy as she celebrates with Michelle Gubbels Pisharody, Equifruit’s supplier development manager, pictured. Her voice truly is hoarse, like how it would sound after a rock concert or big game. But this is big. Costco Wholesale is carrying the company’s bananas, which means many more banana farmers will get paid sustainable wages, among other benefits enjoyed by employees of companies that try to be socially responsible. As a marketing veteran, Chackal knows how to capture excitement and attention. Also, see the company’s post decrying child labor — unless it’s posting a photo of your baby in a banana costume. That’s acceptable.

This self-described Navajo adventure enthusiast caught our attention with her Navajo recipe using fresh corn on the cob. November is Native American Heritage Month, so it seems even more opportune than usual. Kristi “with an i” who goes by @Kristmas07 on TikTok and Instagram and Kristmas on YouTube shares with us a flea market favorite, called Kneel Down Bread. In Navajo, it’s called “Nitsidigo’i, I think,” she says on the reel. We love to learn new ways to use our fresh produce. Plus, Kristi has a hack for getting the corn husk and silks off the cob cleanly. That alone is enough reason to watch. Others agree: Her reel has 65,500 plays, 11,700 likes and 208 comments. Find her on TikTok at @kristmas07.
