Charlotte, N.C.-based Richter and Co. and Vidalia, Ga.-based Stanley Farms have partnered in a new Vidalia onion program. 

John Shuman, president and CEO of Shuman Farms, Cobbtown, Ga., has been named the 2020 Grower of the Year by the Vidalia Onion Committee.

The Vidalia Onion Committee has added R.T. Stanley to the Vidalia Onion Hall of Fame.

The packinghouse, land and equipment formerly used in operations for Vidalia onion and sweet potato grower-shipper Plantation Sweets will be offered in a bank-ordered auction April 26.

The Georgia Department of Agriculture has set April 12 as the official pack date for Vidalia onions.

The Vidalia Onion Committee named Aries Haygood of M&T Farms grower of the year and Ronald Gitaitis was inducted into the hall of fame.

Oak Grove, Va.-based Parker Farms is adding a Vidalia sweet onion program this year.
