We know “people first” is the way to go, but “food first” is quite the contender for the top spot in our hearts and business goals. This week, we plucked posts that feature one or the other in different savvy ways.

This post shows a delicious example of how to use the company’s Little Gem lettuce product. Kung Pao, a Sichuan, Chinese dish of chicken, peanuts, vegetables and chili peppers is a great passenger for these little low-carb boats. You could even order takeout Kung Pao, skip the rice and fill the Little Gem vessels. Consumers, retailers and marketers need to know how your product is used, so use social media to tell them. Give ideas for promotion. Make them salivate. Sprinkle in a few hashtags, and you’re done. Find them on Instagram at @ChurchBrothersFarms.

H-E-B Digital may have only 6, 369 followers on LinkedIn compared to its main account, H-E-B with 159,882 followers. But it’s focused on the digital side of retail, which we all know is critical these days. And then there’s this fun drawing of a lady named Ophie, which piqued our interest. What’s the deal with Ophie? It turns out, that H-E-B’s digital data platform team needed a name for the platform and discovered a connection with one of the company’s longest-running employees, Ofelia “Ophie” Garcia, at 55 years.

A wealth of institutional knowledge and data, Garcia was the muse for the new digital data platform name, Open Platform Hosting Insights & Experimentation, or OPHIE. This retail division created a warm narrative with this post, despite its mission of using cold, hard facts and numbers. We love a good human interest story. If you’re not up on all the great recipes for Brussels sprouts by now, you’re wayyyy behind the times. There are so many ways to ensure that “Brussel sprouts don’t suck,” writes Matthew Mancuso on his TikTok post. The Culinary Institute of America-trained, Per Se, Le Bernardin and Bouchon Bakery-veteran private chef, photographer and YouTuber runs cooking reels on his Artofeating.info account, which also directs his audience to his more popular Instagram account, where he has 15,800 followers. Way to cross-promote, Matthew.

Wearing his signature black T-shirt and Carhartt beanie while leaning on the kitchen counter waving his tattooed arms for emphasis, Matthew starts the video by saying: “You’re not going to believe this, but Brussels sprouts don’t grow the way you’d think they’d grow.”

He proceeds to show us how to cook these vegetables in a method that creates that perfect browned crunch, plus a sweet, tangy, savory dressing with crispy onion bite. Oh, yessssss.

Find him on TikTok at @artofeating.info.
