Lovin’ Spoonfuls will honor Baldor Specialty Foods with the Thomas M. Menino Award for Leadership for sustainability efforts.

Baldor Specialty Foods will be honored at Lovin Spoonfuls’ ninth annual Ultimate Tailgate Party, according to a news release.

“As a company they have supported Lovin’ Spoonfuls since the start in 2010,” Ashley Stanley, Lovin’ Spoonfuls’ founder and executive director, said in the release. “Baldor is a true leader in the food space with tremendous impact through their sustainability initiatives. They represent an impressive commitment to zero waste.”

Baldor Specialty Foods advocates for sustainability through its programs SparCs and Imperfect Produce to prevent fruits and vegetables from being wasted, according to the release.

Lovin’ Spoonfuls gathers perishable foods with low shelf lives, including produce, from 75 vendor partners, to distribute to non-profit agencies in eastern Massachusetts.

The tailgate event is scheduled Nov. 3 and will have tailgate-inspired dishes from Boston area restaurants, according to the release. More information can be found here.
