It’s back-to-school time, and Mastronardi Produce’s Sunset brand has new healthy snacks suitable for lunchboxes.
Sprinkles Tiny Mighty Tomatoes and Qukes Tiny Mighty Cucumbers have the “cute factor” to drive impulse purchases, according to a news release, but their flavor and on-trend positioning will support sustained growth.
Sprinkles are sweet red and yellow micro-grape tomatoes, packed in tomato-inspired packs of 100 grams (3.5 ounces). The Qukes are “smaller-than-mini” cucumbers that pack a “refreshing flavor and a surprising crunch,” according to the release. Qukes are available in a 1-pound clamshell and 12-ounce top-seal tray.
“Sprinkles and Qukes combine premium produce with convenience and are designed to meet growing consumer and retailer demand for exciting vegetable snacking solutions,” Paul Mastronardi, president and CEO, said in the release.
The packs also cater to the trend of healthy snacking throughout the day for adults. The amount of Sprinkles tomatoes in the pack is just right to add to a salad, and the containers are available with custom clip strips for retailers to hang in salad sections, according to the release.
“Demand for these products has been tremendous,” Mastronardi said in the release. “Our first crop of Sprinkles is fully sold out and we have more acreage planned in order to meet the requests of our customers.”
