The Mushroom Council, Redwood Shores, Calif., is partnering with the Whole Kids Foundation to promote The Blend.

In the partnership, teenage chef Evan Robinson is sharing two recipes on ways to blend mushrooms with meat, his Blended Mushroom Nachos and Evanated Pizza Burgers. They’re featured on the Whole Kids Foundation’s website and social media channels, along with the council’s and Blenditarian social media channels.

“Mushrooms are an exceptionally kid-friendly food!” Nona Evans, president and executive director of the Whole Kids Foundation, said in a news release. “Blending mushrooms into dishes is a great way to boost protein and fiber and add flavor.”

The Whole Foods Foundation believes that “supporting schools and inspiring families improves children’s nutrition and wellness,” which is why the Mushroom Council chose the foundation, according to the release.

September is National Mushroom Month as well as the foundation’s Growing Health Kids Campaign, which raises funds and builds awareness about improving food programs at schools in the U.S., Canada and the United Kingdom.
