Employees of Kingsville, Ontario-based Red Sun Farms have again upped their generosity in giving to the Make-A-Wish Foundation for Southwestern Ontario.
Employees and management of the company this year gave $10,890 to the foundation, up from $9,770 and nearly double $5,720 collected in 2017, according to a news release.
“I am so incredibly proud of our team,” company president Jim DiMenna said in the release. “The Make-A-Wish foundation is such a great organization and our team really hit it out of the park this time.”
Two years ago, the company started to promote healthy lifestyles by offering its workers produce boxes for a donation of $5 per box; the produce boxes were filled with fresh vegetables from the firm’s greenhouses, according to the release.
The funds from the donations were pledged to the nonprofit Make-A-Wish Southwestern Ontario chapter. The group grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions, according to the release.
After the plan began in 2017, DiMenna announced the company would make every dollar raised by employees in support of the initiative.
